- Brief:
- This project is a refurbishment of two City Centre office blocks, the structures were originally 4 floors and were extended vertically with the addition of 2 further floors to provide a total of 120 studios and apartments. To allow the additional floors the design incorporated some structural reinforcement of the original structures supporting the weight of the 2 additional floors. The additional floors were lightweight SFS with brick slips, insulation and render in order to minimise the loading. Existing windows were upgraded and secondary glazing was installed to increase thermal and acoustic properties in keeping with current building regulation standards. The apartments were constructed with Knaupf dry lining system to form walls, floors and ceiling creating secure living accommodation to the most up to date standards for fire and acoustic regulations. The scheme internal design was enhanced during the contract in accordance with the clients desire to improve and develop their product ; these changes were incorporated into the project programme and a phased handover was negotiated with the client and allowed early occupation of one of the buildings. The apartments were finished to a very high standard with bespoke furniture and finishes, luxury fittings and quality kitchen installation.
